Funding Modification Overview

Edited

Over the course of planning student events or initiatives, circumstances can shift. Maybe an event is canceled, costs change, or priorities evolve. In these cases, a Funding Modification allows you to reallocate funds previously approved by the ASSU Undergraduate Senate (UGS), the Graduate Student Council (GSC), or The Stanford Fund Partnership Program (TSF) to reflect your updated plans.

To see how to conduct a Funding Modification, please see here.

Purpose:

A Funding Modification formally requests a change in how funds are distributed from your original approved budget. This process ensures transparency, accountability, and alignment with the funding body's goals.

Example:

Suppose your student group was allocated funding for a spring social event that has since been canceled. You now want to use those same funds to support a speaker event later in the quarter. A Funding Modification would allow you to shift the allocated funds from the canceled social to the new academic event, pending approval.

Required Documentation:

An explanation of the reason for the transfer and the new cost estimates for the updated event.

Notes:

  • Modifications must be discussed with a member of the Undergraduate Senate or Graduate Student Council (depending on the funding source). TSF modification can simply be submitted on GrantEd.

  • Approval must be gained before spending on the new event.
