Travel: 2990

Covers travel expenses exclusively for Stanford students who are group members. Funding is fully based on itemization and the discretion of the funding body. For VSO guests, use the Honorarium line item for Travel + Accommodations. Listed below are line items and instances in which you can apply for funding with the Travel account.

Note: If the VSO will pay for a guest speaker's lodging, use the honoraria line item. GSC funds no flights or conference attendance fees.

- For off-campus events necessary for the group's purpose or when picking up equipment is cheaper than delivery.

- Reimbursed at $0.67/mile based on IRS mileage rate (subject to change). Calculate by multiplying miles driven by the mileage rate.

- For off-campus events that serve the group's mission (as listed on CardinalSync) or community service.

- Uhauls may only be used to transport equipment.

- Funded based on itemization and discretion, provided there is no free option. Include a quote and the number of students traveling.

- Covers tickets for public transport, including CalTrain, buses, and rideshares (Ubers/Lyfts).

- Funded based on itemization and discretion, provided there is no free option.

- Covers lodging expenses for events essential to the group's function; retreats will not be funded.

- If the VSO will pay for a guest speaker's lodging, use the honoraria line item.

- Documentation must include competitive quotes demonstrating a good faith effort to find the most affordable option. Funded based on per diem rates for the destination as determined by the General Service Administration.

- For groups traveling to games, conferences, or tournaments essential to the group's function, and other extraordinary circumstances at the committee's discretion.

- International travel funding will be the last resort; seek other resources first and provide proof of the search.

- Documentation must include competitive quotes showing a good faith effort to find the most affordable option. Funded based on itemization and discretion. Graduate VSOs are ineligible for airfare funding.
